*Running*

I did it! I ran 4 kms without stopping. I definitely know that I can run my Fun Run next month now. I know that 4 kms isn't that far, but for a new runner, I feel like it's a long way and I was having serious doubts that I would be able to complete the run. I never had any doubt that I would finish, but I was doubting that I would be able to run the whole way and now I KNOW I CAN!!!.

I ran on Friday and ran for 3 kms without stopping and then walked the last 1 km and I was just picturing myself doing this in May. I think I was just getting myself flustered and upset about the distance and my ability to run and I started talking myself into not being able to do it, so I told myself to shut up.

I never exercise on a Saturday cause that is my rest day, plus my legs were sore from the day before. On Sunday I jumped back on the treadmill and told myself that if I can run 3 kms I can run the 4 kms AND.I.DID! I just took myself back to a post I wrote the other week about doing things the wrong way - so instead of worrying about my speed I just focused on my distance. I was struggling a bit towards the end of the 4 kms, but I did gradually speed up the treadmill to over 9 in the last 1 km. I think, well I am pretty sure that if I don't speed up and just keep going at my starting speed that I could run 5 kms.

I would love to be able to run the 5 kms before my 4 km race cause then I would have NO DOUBT whatsoever about being able to complete the run.

Like a good girl, I remembered to wear my HRM when I did these last 2 runs :

  • 52.17 mins (includes warm and cool down)
  • 3 km run + 1 km walk
  • 574 calories

  • 189 - max. HR
  • 14.15 mins in zone
Sunday - 10 April 2011
  • 45.26 mins (includes warm up and cool down)
  • 31.03 mins 4 km run
  • 527 calories

  • 198 - max. HR

*Fat Burner Workout*

I have managed to talk my husband into doing the 30 day Fat Burner Workout cards with me. I think it will be good for me too though cause it will keep me accountable. I know he will force me to do it even if I don't feel like it.

Today will (obviously) be Day 1, which includes 10 push-ups done on the knees (the easy ones) and then 30 mins of interval walking. We will be doing these at night when all the kiddies are in bed cause it is impossible to do anything like push-ups when they are awake. The minute you try and do anything on the floor the kids jump on wanting "horsey rides".

I can't wait to start it with the hubby, we don't get to spend a lot of time with just us so it will be something we can do together. I think it will be good for us :)

  3. Good for you for pushing through your comfort level! Sometimes we've just got to do that keep going and don't stop until we reach the end. I'm new to following your blog, have you done any road running yet? Running the roads vs the treamill are two different beasts! I've been dying to get off of the treadmill and have been road running for a month now. I find I can run further and faster on the roads than on the treadmill. I must admit on the treadmill I give up at about 3K its just so dull! Whereas on the road I know I can do 5K no problem!

I know its so tempting to go balls to the wall but I would hate for an injury to sideline you. Keep up the great work!
