Saturday's Smoothie Recap

Saturday, November 19, 2011

It's official!  I am the worst blogger ever!  It's been 8 days since my last post, but I just haven't been doing anything.  No exercise, bad food choices and weight gain (800 grams) - not very inspiring.

I have however, made a couple of delicious smoothies :

Simple Strawberry Smoothie

Strawberry Swamp Beast Smoothie

this glass is a little over 500 mls

The ingredients for both smoothies are exactly the same except the Swamp Beast has baby spinach leaves added.  You can not taste the spinach much, so as long as you don't mind drinking something that resembles Kermit the Frog, I say go for it.

I am really starting to enjoy my smoothies.  I love getting 2 serves of fruit and sometimes a serve of veggies as well all in one drink - not bad.  I also find them really filling and have found the days I drink them, I'm not constantly thinking about my next meal.

Simple Strawberry Smoothie

You will need :
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 serve canned Strawberries in Syrup - just the berries
  • 1 - 2 tsp of  the strawberry syrup
  • 250ml Coconut Water
I got the idea of using Coconut Water from Sammy and it's the best idea ever!  Thanks again Sammy :)

Method :
  1. Blend all together
  2. Drink
The berries look really horrible so don't look at them if you can help it!

Strawberry Swamp Beast Smoothie

  • 1 - 2 tsp of strawberry syrup
  • 250ml Coconut Water

Method :
  1. Blend all together
  2. Drink
Enjoy :)

*Flu Update*

I finally went to see a doctor, well, my husband actually kicked me out of bed and forced me to go.  I am now on antibiotics and am much better.  I am going to take a couple more rest days before starting on my new exercise regime (ha ha, regime, I sound so professional) on Monday.  My chest doesn't burn when I cough anymore so that is a really good sign.

  2. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.

I used to have a smoothie - looked disgusting but tasted great.

    1 cup pineapple cut up
    1-2 bananas
    2 spinach leaves
    2 cos lettuce leaves
    500ml water

    All in the blender.

Really delicious - sometimes I put more pineapple in because I love pineapple.

Have a great weekend and good luck with getting back into your regime on Monday.

    Love, hugs and positive energy.

  3. That's a good idea to use some of the syrup from the strawberries. I haven't really liked any of the smoothies I've made because they are too bitter but I guess using the syrup sweetens them up a bit.

stopping by from the blog hop:)

  4. Hope you're feeling 100% soon! I rarely drink smoothies this time of year because I'm cold! But I'll keep these for the summer months!

  6. @Me
I love pineapple as well. My next smoothie creation is going to be a pineapple & raspberry concoction. I have never thought of putting lettuce in a smoothie - I might have to try that!

That's exactly why I used the syrup - to sweeten the smoothie. It really did help and I didn't have to add sugar or cocoa powder to be able to drink them. I actually surprised myself with these 2. The last few I have made I had to throw out :(
